Scotts Valley, CA – July 9, 2025 – Digital Dynamics, Inc. (DDI), a leader in high-reliability EtherCAT I/O controllers, today announced its formal commitment to combat climate change by aligning its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction strategy with recognized science-based targets. DDI joins over 10,000 businesses worldwide in supporting efforts to limit global warming to well below 2°C, with a preferred target of 1.5°C.
As part of this commitment, DDI is working with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)—a globally recognized framework for corporate climate action. With the help of sustainability consultants Sensiba and Greenly, DDI has completed a comprehensive inventory of its emissions, including:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions across the value chain
This emissions assessment was conducted using both financial and activity-based methodologies, allowing DDI to identify high-impact areas and set ambitious reduction targets.
DDI’s SBTi-approved goals include:
- Near-Term Target: Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 58.8% by 2034, from a 2023 base year, and begin active measurement and reduction of Scope 3 emissions.
- Long-Term Target: Achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, including a 90% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions from 2023 levels.
“We recognize the urgent need to act on climate, and we are proud to be part of the global solution,” said Nir Merry, Chairman and CEO of Digital Dynamics. “Setting science-based targets and transitioning to renewable energy are critical steps in our journey toward a sustainable future.”
DDI has already made substantial progress toward its goals. The company is in the process of transitioning a portion of its energy demand to renewable electricity sources, eliminating Scope 2 emissions—a full decade ahead of schedule. Further reductions are underway through logistics and operational improvements aimed at cutting emissions across the supply chain.
In the interest of transparency and accountability, DDI will report annually on its GHG emissions across all scopes. These reports will track the company’s progress and ensure alignment with its science-based climate targets.
