DDI’s customization services offer field-connect interfaces tailored to the OEM’s established best practices for cabling and interconnects.

Fusion controllers and Remote I/O Modules interfaces, aka ‘Field Connects” are offered standard with DB25F connectors pinned 0ne-for-one with installed I/O slot cards.  However, it is most common to mix I/O signals on a connector.  Leveraging DDI’s quick-turn Fusion Development Process, or “FDP”, OEMs are able to tailor the connectors and pinouts to conform to established best cabling practices.  DDI’s FDP process can turn an engineering prototype in as little as six weeks after connector, pinout and schematic approval.  Additional features are possible, such as auxiliary internally or externally fed power distribution, in-circuit fuse protection, and visual indicators.

All Fusion frame-sizes can be supplied with a customer field-connect.

Remote I/O Modules (RIMs)

RIMs are remote I/O modules enabling extension of Fusion I/O as a SIL3 functional safety system. Fusion.IO & RIM I/O functions as a safety interlock controller when configured using DDI’s Interlock Builder™ software utility. A Fusion/RIM system supports up to 1920 mixed I/O points under control through a single EtherCAT sub-device.
