Digital Dynamics Introduces Fusion.MBC Model-Based Control Embedded in Fusion.IO

Building on Fusion.TC’s rapid global adoption, DDI expands its embedded-control platform with advanced multivariable process control

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. — October 13, 2026 — Digital Dynamics, Inc. (DDI), a leading provider of embedded control and I/O solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing equipment, today introduced Fusion.MBC, embedding multivariable model-based control directly into its Fusion.IO platform. The announcement coincides with SEMICON West 2026, October 13–15 at Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Fusion.MBC builds on the success of Fusion.TC, which enables customers to implement up to 64 PID temperature-control loops within Fusion.IO. The new capability combines coordinated multivariable control with real-time I/O and Fusion.IO’s SIL3-rated functional-safety protections.

Running locally within Fusion.IO, Fusion.MBC enables continued process control—including temperature control—while preserving functional-safety protections during higher-level EtherCAT master upgrades, reboots, or servicing.

“Fusion.MBC represents an important expansion of our Fusion platform strategy,” said Nir Merry, Chairman and CEO of Digital Dynamics. “Maintaining temperature control during these interruptions can avoid lengthy thermal recovery, reduce risk to chamber process kits, and return tools to production faster—directly improving availability and productivity.”

Fusion.MBC uses field-proven model-based control technology to manage interacting process variables as a coordinated system. Ideally suited for critical applications such as multizone wafer heaters, it accounts for cross-zone interaction and differing thermal time constants. Equipment manufacturers can configure the number of control zones and sensors, then use automated process modeling and tuning to optimize system performance and accelerate implementation.

Key benefits include:

  • Coordinated model-based control for complex multi-input, multi-output systems
  • Configurable zones and sensors with automated modeling and tuning
  • Improved process stability, repeatability, and consistency
  • Continued local temperature control and functional-safety protection during EtherCAT master interruptions
  • Reduced recovery time and increased tool availability
  • Simplified integration of process control, I/O, and functional safety

Fusion.IO is DDI’s modular EtherCAT I/O and safety-interlock platform, supporting analog, digital, temperature, serial, and safety-rated I/O. It is certified as a SIL3 functional-safety device under IEC 61508.

DDI will demonstrate Fusion.MBC at SEMICON West 2026, with supported configurations and commercial availability to be announced.
