FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SCOTTS VALLEY, CA, November 27, 2019 – Digital Dynamics, Inc. (DDI) today announced that their FUSION IO™ Control Solution with native EtherCAT® connectivity has been certified to IEC 61508 and ISO 13849-1, Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3).

This certification provides independent validation that the FUSION.IO controller offers a high level of reliability and risk reduction when used in safety-critical systems. Examples of such systems are semiconductor processing equipment, material processing, hazardous equipment, or any type of automated industrial equipment.

The certificate states that the FUSION.IO controller has been “Certified to comply with the requirements of the relevant standards (Cat. 3 /PL e acc. to EN ISO 13849-1, SIL CL 3 acc. To EN 62061 / IEC 61508) and can be used in applications up to PLe acc. to EN ISO 13849 -1 and SIL 3 acc. to EN 62061 / IEC 61508.”

To achieve this certification, the FUSION IO controller system was subjected to a detailed reliability analysis by specialists at TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services and provider of technical services. The analysis demonstrated that the product design met the stringent SIL 3 requirements.

“We are in a business where product safety is of prime importance,” said Bill Murvihill, COO of Digital Dynamics, Inc. “The SIL3 rating for the FUSION.IO controller system validates DDI’s total commitment to safety and quality.”

FUSION.IO represents the 2nd generation of Digital Dynamics’ groundbreaking SuperIOr® Controller system, uniting a traditional single-enclosure IOC with state-of-the-art FPGA-based design and distributed I/O expansion using up to four Remote Interface Modules (RIMs) allowing distributed I/O control throughout large complex equipment.. This “Fusion” has resulted in a significant cost-reduction without sacrificing functionality.

FUSION.IO Controller brings the advantages of high-speed, embedded control, mixed-signal I/O, and FPGA-based interlocks to EtherCAT machine control systems. FUSION.IO can unburden the EtherCAT host computer from high speed control sequencing, interlocks, and data collection tasks, while simultaneously monitoring and controlling over 2000 mixed-signal inputs and outputs at an 8 kHz scan rate. In addition, it can parse through collected data and notify the host when certain thresholds are reached.

Digital Dynamics, Inc. manufactures and distributes high quality I/O Controllers and related products in Scotts Valley, California. DDI is an ISO 9000 registered company with over 40 years of design and manufacturing experience, and a worldwide installed base of more than 50,000 advanced electronic control systems.
