Fusion.IO is a state-of-the-art real-time I/O platform that’s ideal for complex machines with mixed signal general purpose and SIL3 rated I/O. Fusion.IO can be deployed as a distributed, centralized or blended system using DDI’s novel ECM/RIM architecture. Fusion.IO supports the EtherCAT protocol for use with any ETG compliant EtherCAT master, as well as DDI’s EtherCAT master.

The ECM is the EtherCAT Control Module, a Linux CPU with integrated redundant safety logic and expansion ports enabling I/O extension using Remote Interface Modules, or RIMs. Fusing an ECM with a RIM yields the Fusion.IO module, which can be further expanded by up to four RIMs.
